Book Club Schedule... volunteers needed

{In a separate post} you will find the schedule for the year for Book Club.     Many thanks to the volunteers who offered to host and lead.  This year's books look really great, and I cant wait to start reading.

You will note that we still need leader(s) for "The Thorn Birds" in July of 2018.  Since its so far away, I'm sure that someone will be willing to volunteer before then.

Please remember to contact the hostess to tell her you will attend the meetings and also if you will be able to bring wine or appetizers or desserts.  It is very important that we know how many people to prepare for;  I'm sure you understand that enough chairs, room, etc. is a consideration for each hostess.

The selection night went really well, and I'm proud of the selections this year....what a varied grouping of titles and authors!! And  I'm still longing for a taste of Joan's gorgeous cake!  Not to mention the appetizers that Leslie and June Marie brought.

If you cannot open and print the schedule, let me know and I'll get you a hard copy. until Sunday  But contact me after Labor day since I will be in Wisconsin (the land of cheese, beer and good football)  until Sunday.

Until next week, happy reading!

Info for May's meeting

May 17th

Hi book clubbers!
Hope you are enjoying the beautiful spring weather.  For those of you in sunny Florida,  we have sunshine and 83 degree temps today.   Who says WNY is cold?
This months' meeting is next Wednesday May 24, at Irene ' s beautiful home.  We always have a good time at Irene ' s,  perhaps due to the surroundings and the hostess.  The book is WHEN WOMEN WERE BIRDS, the leader is Linda Hoffman.
We need wine and Snax volunteers.....please help and think of dessert and app ideas.  To start off I'll bring an app and a bottle of white.
hoping for friends to help out!

April Meeting Information

Hi Guys!
We had Book Club Wednesday, March 29 at Kathy McDonnel's Beautiful home to discuss "A Mothers Reckoning" by Sue Klebold.  I have to ask Jill if she has the final count of the evaluation..I think it wound up in the 3's.   Jackie did a truly awesome job leading the discussion, and I believe everyone there had something to contribute during the discussion.  For those of you who could not attend, you missed one of the best book club discussions we've ever had.   Although the book is not exactly a "happy read', the topic of young people and depression is one that should be discussed and attended to.

Next book club is April 26, at Diane Knight's house on Pine Run Court.   7:00PM.  PLEASE let her know if you will be attending...The book we are discussing is "The Nightingale" by Kristin Hannah.   I read it a couple of years ago, and loved it, so I highly recommend it to you.  Irene has graciously offered to lead (Yay, Irene!!)

Snax volunteers are:

Wine:
white  Donna, Jen
Red:  Marty, Irene
Chardonnay:  Kathy
Sauvignon Blanc:  Nancy

Appetizer:   Marilyn   and need another app!  Help!!  (Grace will be out of town)
                    Jen
Dessert:    Barb and Jill B

If you have any ideas for Jan's 50th anniversary book, please contact her ASAP.

Thanks, all.......see you soon!
Jen
P.S.  From Jill - the books rating was 3.4
